Dr. Elizabeth Gearing

Dr. Elizabeth Gearing completed her undergraduate education at The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and earned her doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. She furthered her optometric training at the VA Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island; Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama; the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago, Illinois; and the Mid-Florida Eye Center in Mt. Dora, Florida.

Dr. Gearing provides her patients with comprehensive eye examinations that include the early detection of disorders that affect older adults. Ocular conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration, and glaucoma; as well as systemic diseases like diabetes and hypertension can be uncovered during the course of a routine eye examination. When non-surgical correction of vision is needed, Dr. Gearing takes great care to create a precise prescription for glasses or contact lenses. Many individuals who had previously been told they were not candidates for contacts are often successfully fit as a result of Dr. Gearing’s extensive training and experience.

Her professional affiliations include the American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association, Southwest Florida Optometric Association, and the Southern Council of Optometry. In her free time, Dr. Gearing enjoys the beach, boating, biking and attending University of Michigan football games in the fall.

Dr. Gearing is now accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment contact the Fort Myers office.
