Originally from a suburb of Washington D.C., Dr. Collins completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and obtained his medical degree at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his combined internship in medicine and surgery at the University of Virginia in Roanoke and his eye surgery residency at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Collins finished his advanced fellowship training in cornea and refractive surgery at the prestigious Hunkeler Eye Centers in Kansas City, Missouri with Dr. Daniel S. Durrie. As a fellow, he was active in ophthalmic research and played significant investigator roles during numerous FDA clinical trials. An accomplished speaker, Dr. Collins lectures at international meetings on LASIK and other eye surgery. His work has been published in several professional medical journals.
Licensed to practice medicine and surgery in the state of Florida, Dr. Collins is a board certified ophthalmologist and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and the American Medical Association.
Dedicated to providing patients with the highest quality eye care, Dr. Collins' professional interests include performing state-of-the-art corneal, cataract and refractive surgery. His personal interests include golf, fishing and spending time with his family.
